Easter Weekend is here!
Hey Harvest Family,
This weekend is a very exciting and important weekend for our church and for Christians all around the world! We have put a lot of prayer and planning into our services at Gage School on Good Friday at the Hersey Center on Easter Sunday.
HERE ARE SOME QUICK NOTES ABOUT EASTER TOGETHER ON SUNDAY
1. You need a TICKET to enter this FREE event, so either bring your ticket with you or pick one up inside the front entrance of the Hershey Centre that morning. Once you're in the building, you can sit wherever you like.
2. Arrive early! It's a big facility, and it might take you 15 minutes to drop your kids off, and 15 minutes to find a seat. Aim to be there at 9:30am. We also ask that you’d take time during your devotions to pray for these services. Here’s a simple prayer guide to help you.
See you on Friday morning,
In God's love,
Ted

Christmas Eve Services & Christmas Offering
Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and shall call his name Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14)
Merry Christmas Harvest Family,
We're so excited for our CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES this Saturday night at 5:00pm and 7:00pm at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel. It's going to be great to celebrate our Saviour's birth together.
I want to remind you that these Saturday night services will be our last time together in 2011, since we won't be having a service on Sunday December 25th. That means this Saturday evening will be our last opportunity to bring our CHRISTMAS OFFERING in support of Harvest Bible Fellowship initiatives in Liberia and Oakville. Please pray and ask the Lord how He would lead you to give generously to these exciting opportunities.
In God's love,
Ted

Happy Thanksgiving!
“So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth”
(1 Corinthians 3:7)
We have much to be thankful for as we head into the Thanksgiving holiday this weekend. I was so encouraged to receive a message after our service this past Sunday that the Niagara church plant had over 250 people at their launch service. Thank God for answering prayer! What a privilege to have a front row seat as God is doing a new thing in our midst through Harvest Bible Chapel!
As we are SEEKING HIS FACE this year as a church, it seems that more and more people are joining us in the pursuit. Our church is growing and more new people are coming every Sunday. Here a few things I’d like to communicate to you as we continue to be amazed at what God is doing.
1. GIVE GOD ALL THE GLORY As exciting as it is to see God working and growing our church it is also dangerous. We must continually guard ourselves against pride and against distraction. Our heart needs to express “not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name give glory” (Psalm 115:1). It’s “only God who gives the growth” (1 Corinthians 3:7) and it’s only God who gets the glory! As we head into Thanksgiving this weekend, we should be giving God so much thanks and praise for all that He’s done in and through us!
2. MAKE IT YOUR GOAL TO MEET AT LEAST ONE NEW PERSON EVERY WEEK - Since we've only been in existence for two years, all of us can remember what it was like when we came to a Harvest Bible Chapel service for the first time. "Where will I drop off my children? What will church in a school be like? Will anyone talk to me?" These are the kinds of questions people are always asking themselves when they arrive at a new church. We want our visitors to be able to answer those questions as quickly as possible so that they can focus on Seeking God's face in worship and in the Word. I want us to make it our aim that we reach out and welcome these people as Christ has welcomed us (Romans 15:7). Most people that I talk to can remember the first person they met at Harvest Bible Chapel. The sad thing is, it's normally the same 2 or 3 names that people keep mentioning. Don't leave it up to the greeters and ushers to greet people, reach out connect with people yourself!
3. PARK FAR AWAY AND SIT UP CLOSE On a more practical note, anyone who has arrived at Gage School anytime close to 10:30 knows that it's next to impossible to find a parking spot in the lot. This is a great problem to have because it means that more and more people are coming out to seek God's face on Sunday mornings. One of the ways we can practically love people in our church who are new, who have small children, or who have physical challenges is to park over at the Queen St. Public School parking lot and walk. Parking is available on both the near and far sides of Queen St. Public School. We’re also asking that you take the opposite approach to parking your car, when it comes to parking yourself on a seat in the gym. We're asking people to sit as close to the front as possible to make room for newcomers and latecomers.
4. USE PRE-AUTHORIZED PAYMENT FOR YOUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS. As Spirit-led, sacrificial generosity spreads among the people of our church, it is becoming a challenge for our tellering team to count and process donor information in a limited time frame. One way all of us who call Harvest home could help with this process is to sign up for Pre-Authorized Payment donations using this form. It's safe, simple and smart.
Here are a few upcoming events that you should consider attending. There's something for everyone.

Special Bulletin: Stay Cool This Sunday!
Hey Harvest!
We are thankful for your commitment to worship the Lord
Jesus with us here at Harvest during these warm summer months. You may have
noticed that the school’s gym has no air conditioning, so we are trying to help
you stay cool by adding more fans during the service beginning this weekend, and by providing cold water before
and after the service at the refreshment tables in the halls. We hope this will
help you stay cool as we hear God’s Word and worship together the King of
creation, Jesus Christ.
And don't forget to check out these links for more information on our upcoming events in the summer months:

Hey loved ones,
We’re so thankful for the way God encouraged His body
through the powerful testimonies shared by our baptism candidates. Let’s
continue to pray for Ed Durica, Nathan DeBoer, Ken Taylor, Emeline Van Bodegom,
Taisha Palmer-Salmon, and Robert Mikhael.
I’m really excited to dig deep into one of my favorite
passages over the next few weeks as we study Philippians 2 and the topic of
humility. Humility is a daunting topic to discuss. As soon as you think you’re
humble, you become guilty of pride. Who then, could say, “Listen to me because I
know something about humility”. Can anyone speak with authority on the subject?
No one can. So what do we do? We follow Jesus. Listen to what C.J. Mahaney wrote in the introduction to His
book entitled Humility: True Greatness,
“I’m a proud man pursuing humility by
the grace of God. I don’t write as an authority on humility; I write as a
fellow pilgrim with you on the path set for us by our humble Saviour”.
The path set for us by Jesus is mapped out in Philippians
chapter 2. I invite you to spend some
time there this week and we’ll continue our journey together on Sunday morning.
There's a lot going on in our church as we head into the month of June.
Make sure you have these dates in your calendar:

BBQ This Sunday June 5th. Bring your lawn chairs!

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living
hope THROUGH THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST FROM THE DEAD." (1
Peter 1:3)
This is the week that we remember and celebrate the most
significant moment in human history. 2,000 years ago, outside Jerusalem, Jesus
Christ, fully man and fully God, gave up His life on a cruel Roman cross. On
that cross He bore the wrath of God against all sin and all wickedness and all
evil and all rebellion. He bore the wrath of God for my sin, for my wickedness
for my evil and for my rebellion. He died in my place. He died in your place.
Being fully man, he died for the sins of every man.
But being fully God, death could not hold him. He rose to life! As He was raised to
life, we too have the hope of newness of life! In Jesus Christ there is power,
victory, glory, and salvation!
We’ve put a lot of planning and praying into our Good Friday
and Easter Services this weekend and we’re expecting God to move powerfully.
Please join us on Friday and Sunday at 10:30 am and please invite as many
unsaved people as you can to join us so that they might here and respond to the
good news!
Here are a few of
things you’ll need to know in order to get the most out of your Easter weekend…
1. Prayer Meeting
Wednesday April 20th 7:00 pm
Come and cry out to God with us as we pray that He would be glorified
in our Good Friday and Easter services.
2. A Note About
Harvest Kids on Good Friday
- Grade-school children at Harvest will be joining their
parents and guardians during the Good Friday service. This is a great
opportunity for our children to learn about the cross and to see the adults in
their church remember and reflect upon who Jesus is and what He has done.
- As we share in the Lord’s Supper on Friday, we also ask
parents to show caution and wisdom with regards to whether or not it is best
for their children to observe or participate depending on age and spiritual
maturity.
- We’re looking
for a few more faithful people to serve in Harvest Kids on Friday for Nursery,
Toddlers, and JK/SK. If you’re
available, please CLICK HERE.
3. A Note About Parking
on Easter Sunday
To make room for our visitors and the friends and family
we’ve invited, we’re asking those who call Harvest their home to please use the
parking lot at Queen St. Public School
directly south of William Gage.
Here are two other
things everyone in our church should know…
1. Children’s Heart
Project Email Updates
God is doing amazing things in and through the Paatz family
as they have welcomed two Mongolian toddlers in need of heart surgery into
their homes along with their mothers through a program administered through
Samaritan’s Purse. If you’d like updates on how God is working or would like to
give prayer support to Fred and Sarah, CLICK HERE to get your name on the email
distribution list.
2. Japan Offering
God’s people at Harvest opened their hearts to God’s leading
after the tragedies in Japan. By God’s grace we were able to raise $5,323.00
for Churches Helping Churches. We’re looking forward to see how God is going to
work.

BAPTISM
At the end of May, we’re going to be having a Baptism Service at Harvest Bible Chapel. I love baptism services. Going under water and coming up again is a powerful symbol of the believer's full identification with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. Paul says, “all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus” were “buried therefore with Him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:3-4). Baptism is a big deal. It’s a big deal because it is a picture of the gospel - which is the biggest deal of all. When a believer gets baptized they are publicly demonstrating a full acceptance and alignment with Jesus Christ and what He accomplished on the cross.
Since baptism is such a big deal, we wanted to let our people know long in advance so that they have lots of opportunity to study the Bible, pray and ask lots of questions about baptism. If you haven’t been baptized as a believer, I encourage you to listen to this baptism message on our website and prayerfully consider what is holding you back from obeying Christ in this way.

I WOULD GO TO PRAYER MEETING, BUT...
Attendance at our past few prayer meetings has been amazing,
but I know that some of us are still anxious when they think about the idea of
coming to an event like a prayer meeting. What’s going to happen? Are we really
going to pray for an hour and an a half straight? Will I have to pray out loud
in front of everyone?
In today’s newsletter I’d like to lovingly address and
challenge some of the reasons people choose to opt out of corporate prayer.
I would go to prayer meetings, but I don't know how to pray.
There’s no better way to learn than to listen and observe as
other believers pray together.
I would go to prayer meetings, but I'm afraid to pray in front of other people.
I think some of us are afraid that as soon as they walk into
a prayer meeting someone is going to put a microphone in their face and ask
them to pray on the spot for some obscure tribe in Papua New Guinea. That’s
simply not the case. Many people who come to our prayer meetings don’t open
their mouths at all. They pray quietly in their mind and agree silently with
the people who are praying out loud. At Harvest, we’re all about helping people
grow in Christ by stepping out of their comfort zone. If simply coming to a prayer
meeting is a big step for you, let’s worry about taking that first step and
we’ll patiently help you overcome your fear of praying in front of others after
that (Proverbs 29:25).
I would go to prayer
meetings, but I’m turned off by pseudo-spiritual people spouting off long-winded
prayers.
At Harvest, we don’t believe prayer is a performance. We
don’t hand out awards for the longest prayer or for the prayer with the biggest
words. Jesus warns us not to pray like the “hypocrites” who pray “that they may
be seen” (Matthew 6:5). Isn’t it weird how we take something like prayer, which
is supposed to humble us and bring us low, and we twist it to fuel our sinful
pride and desire for recognition? Prayer is supposed to be simple,
straightforward, and humble. Our prayer meetings are not about us, they’re
about God.
I would go to prayer
meetings but I believe that prayer is something personal.
It is true that Jesus tells us about the importance of
private prayer. “But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and
pray to your Father who is in secret” (Matthew 6:6). Private prayer is a very
important component of prayer, but it is not the only component of prayer. We
would be wise to take notice of all the times that we see the believers praying
together in the New Testament (Acts 1:14; Acts 2:42; Acts 4:23-24; Acts 12:5;
Acts 13:3; Acts 21:5). We also can’t ignore that when Jesus taught his
disciples to pray, He told them to pray “Our
Father…. Give us this day our daily bread…. Forgive us… lead us… deliver us” (Matthew
6:9-13). All the requests in the Lord’s Prayer are in the first person plural.
What’s the significance of this? When Jesus taught His disciples how to pray,
He assumed that they were going to be praying together as a group.
The bottom line is that corporate prayer is not just an
option; it’s essential. Our loving Father knows what’s best for us and commands
us to seek Him together with other believers for their benefit, for our
benefit, and for His glory.
So, here’s what you can expect at a Harvest Prayer Meeting:
A time of worship
through song
A time quietly
confessing our sins before the Lord
A time where a few of us
pray out loud with the whole group
A time where we gather
into groups of 3 or 4 to pray for specific needs
A group of people who
are seeking God’s face with passion, humility, and reverence
See you at John Knox Christian School Wednesday night at
7:00 PM!

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
(Luke 2:14)
We’re wishing you a Merry Christmas here at Harvest Bible Chapel. It’s our prayer that you would experience the peace that comes from knowing that the glory belongs to “God in the highest”. May God receive glory in your life this holiday season as you reflect on the wonder of the word becoming flesh and dwelling among us! Here are a couple of important things happening in the life of our church that we wanted to let you know about.
1. Christmas Offering Collection December 19th and 26th
Each year we give a Christmas Offering that goes toward ministries outside of our church that God is using to build up His Church and further the gospel. This year, God has laid on our hearts to give a total of $30,000 to 3 particular initiatives that are doing this very thing both locally and globally, and we would love to come alongside them and help further what God is doing there:
a. Harvest Gianda Liberia
In October, Andrew Kpah, a church-plant pastor in Gianda, Liberia, hoped to officially launch a church in this village with a core group of believers. However, 3 weeks before the launch, Pastor Kpah suddenly became ill and died, leaving behind his wife, 4 children, and a fledgling church. Yet, out of this unexpected tragedy, God is doing a great work in this remote village in Liberia. The church has become more united, rallying around Andrew's wife, Marita and their 4 children, while 3 elders of this new congregation share the responsibilities of preaching and shepherding.
The surrounding village initially responded in fear to Pastor Kpah's death, not knowing why or how he died, thereby leading to a community scare of death and preventative superstitions. But the church has been able to respond with the gospel, that despite the inevitability of death, there is the hope of eternal life found in Jesus Christ alone.
As this young church seeks to minister to Pastor Kpah's family, it's growing needs as a congregation, and the lost villagers around them, we have an opportunity to come alongside them and bless them through our Christmas offering.
We would like to give $10,000 to a church plant in Gianda, which would drill a well for the church that can be used for the whole village, build a home for a future pastor, and provide 1 ton of rice as a means of meeting benevolent needs within the church and to unsaved villagers
b. Harvest Niagara
We would also like to give a $10,000 gift to another church-plant hoping to be sent out from Oakville this coming September, our sister-church, Harvest Niagara, to help cover the initial start-up costs that come with doing a church-in-a-box church-plant like us.
c. Harvest Oakville
Lastly, we have an opportunity to return a blessing to our parent church, Harvest Oakville, and be part of their building project of a new facility, which we pray will act as a hub for training, equipping, and church planting across Canada.
These are the 3 ministries, and we're praying that the Lord would enable us to give $30,000 toward these initiatives for His glory and the building up and expansion of His Kingdom, out of a joyful, generous and sacrificial heart."
2. Harvest Kids Singing Rehearsal December 18th (JK to Grade 5)
As many of you know your children in JK to Grade 5 have been learning a special Christmas song in preparation for our Dec 19th Christmas service, where we plan on having them perform in front of the adults and parents.
This is a reminder for all Harvest Kids parents that this coming Saturday, December 18th is our Christmas service rehearsal; Please bring your children in JK to Grage 5 to Sir William Gage Middle School from 10am to 11am. During this hour, we will be walking through where the children will be standing and practicing their song with the worship team. Additionally, we will go over all the practical details for Sunday Morning.
When you arrive for practice on Saturday morning, please proceed directly to the gym, and the leadership team will meet you there.
This will be such a blessing to see and hear; please be in prayer for the children and worship team, as they prepare for this Christ-exalting song and time!
3. Christmas Eve Service
Christmas is a wonderful opportunity to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. It’s amazing how people who would normally never darken the door of church are often willing to attend a worship service on Christmas Eve. Please prayerfully and boldly invite friends, family and co-workers to join us on December 24th at 6:00pm at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel near 410 and Steeles. We’re praying that God would truly meet with us in a powerful way that night.
4. WinterFüse
Just a quick reminder to all parents with children from Grade 6 to 12 to sign your child up for the amazing WinterFuse retreat happening January 7-9. Check our website for more details.
We also wanted to let you know that our church staff will be working remotely from December 27th to 31st and our office will be closed. If you have an emergency, please contact Harvest Oakville 905 827-4157 and a staff member there will be able to connect you with one of us.
We’re praying that you will experience true love, joy, peace and hope this Christmas Season.

Greetings Loved Ones!
Week of Prayer: We’re Waiting on the Lord! (Isaiah 40:31)
On Monday night we got our week of prayer off to a great start. A faithful and fervent group of people huddled in our little conference room at the Holiday Inn and cried out to God together. We declared His greatness and beauty, we quietly took time to confess our sins, we thanked Him for all that He’s done in our church and in our lives, and we prayed for the needs in our community. It was a great time. And guess what? It’s going happen all over again tonight… and tomorrow night… and the next night… and the next!
A Couple of Notes to Make your Prayer Night Experience Go Smoothly:
Parking is Free!
Just give your license plate number at the front desk. Some of us were thrown off that
last night when we noticed that the Holiday Inn charges for parking. Don’t be dismayed. Simply let the
front desk know that you’re there with Harvest and they’ll take down your license plate number.
Meet us Beneath the Pool!
The Holiday Inn is a bit of maze. If you’re running late and aren’t sure where to find the prayer meeting,
we’re in the Fletcher’s Creek Room which is down stairs and around the corner from the pool.
Preparing to Launch in 5...4...3…2…1…
As I sit and write at my desk today, we are just 5 days away from the launch of our new ministry year. This is a big kick off Sunday service of celebration and anticipation! We celebrate who God is and what He’s done and we anticipate all that He’s going to do in our midst.
It’s hard to believe that only a year ago we were a rag tag group of people who hardly knew each other and knew even less about what we were supposed to do as a church. What a difference a year makes. Just think back about where you were spiritually last year and where God has brought you. Think about all the amazing friendships that have started this year with people we didn’t even know existed this time last year. God truly has done “Far More Abundantly” (Eph 3:20-21) than we expected.
As we look back on the last year and all that God has done, the life-change, the salvation, the baptisms, the community that has been built – we stand in awe of God and look forward to what He’s going to do in 2010 and 2011.
This Sunday will also be a launch for our new-look Harvest Kids ministry. It’s very important that we all prioritize attending the Training Session this Saturday morning at Gage School to make sure that our children are being properly taught and protected.
Have a great week! I hope to see you at the Holiday Inn at one of our prayer meetings.

September 1st, 2010
Greetings loved ones!
It’s been great to see people returning from their vacations refreshed,
rejuvenated and ready to serve the Lord in His strength. I am reminded of the words of Isaiah:
Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.
(Isaiah 40:30-31)
This has been an amazing summer. God has been blessing us, growing us, and challenging us as a church and as individuals as we’ve explored the word of God in order to find the God of the Word.
We’ve got a very busy fall ahead of us and we’re anticipating God to show us even greater things than He did this past year. The next few weeks are very important for our church.
Here’s a bit of an update of what’s happening at Harvest on the next few Sundays, as we get ready for the fall:
This Sunday September 5th will be a Communion Service, and we are excited to welcome Karl Whittingstall, Director of Youth Ministries at Harvest Oakville to come and bring the Word this weekend. He will be preaching from Ephesians 2:1-10, “God’s Grace is Amazing.”
Next Sunday September 12th, I will be back in the saddle, and we will continue our journey through Isaiah 40 as we learn from Isaiah 40:27-31 “Wait for the Lord.” That weekend will also serve to kick off our week of prayer (Sept 13th -17th), so remember to mark your calendars!
The following Sunday September 19th will be a special Ministry Year Launch Service! We're excited about what the Lord will bring this coming year!
This week, don't forget about:

Pakistan Flood Relief Offering - September 5th
This Sunday, September 5th, we will be taking up a special offering for the victims of the flooding in Pakistan. For more information about this special event, and to see where the offering will be used, please check out the Harvest Brampton Blog.
Remember to mark your calendars for all these upcoming events:

Peak Performance - September 11th
This session is designed to give you a solid understanding of what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ and to Worship, Walk with, and Work for Christ here at Harvest Brampton.
Completing the Peak Performance session is a requirement for anyone interested in joining a Small Group at Harvest or becoming a member. This session runs from 9 AM to 2 PM. If you are interested, you can sign up ONLINE.

Week of Prayer - September 13th to 17th
We will be hosting a Week of Prayer during the week of Monday September 13th to Friday September 17th, in the evenings from 7 to 8:30 PM. This event will be held at the Holiday Inn, 30 Peel Centre Drive, in Brampton. For a map to the location, you can visit the website.
Join us in the evenings to seek the Lord as we enter into the new ministry year. See you there!

Harvest Kids Training Day - September 18th
In order
to be best equipped to love
and care for the families God is entrusting to us each Sunday, we will
be hosting a Harvest Kids Training time on Saturday morning, September
18th from 10:00am - 12:00pm at Sir William Gage Middle School.
Everyone who is currently involved in the 6-week Serving Rotation and
serves in Harvest Kids, or
hopes to do so in the future, is required to attend this essential time

have
the exciting privilege to join our parent church and pray & praise
together with them at Harvest
Oakville! As Easter
approaches, let us gather
together to praise and pray to our God and Saviour. Please be

& 4)

"they crucified him" (Mark 15:25); "he has risen" (Matthew 28:6)
This Easter, we invite you, your family and friends to join us as we
celebrate the death, burial and triumphant resurrection of our Lord
Jesus Christ. Our Good Friday service begins at 10:00am on Friday, and
our Easter Sunday service also begins at 10:00am.
3. Update re: Harvest Kids Training

Who knew training could be so fun and beneficial! Thanks to all who came out, as this training is so essential for us as a church to continue to grow in our ability to serve and care for those families and children whom God entrusts to us each week.
If you weren't able to make it out to this past Harvest Kids Training time, no worries - our next one will be sometime in May or June. We'll see you there!
4. New Parking Ministry

We are blessed by God in so many ways, and one such way is in parking. Several parking locations are available to us on Sunday mornings, including school parking lots, certain school lanes and street curbs.
So, starting Easter morning (April 4), we hope to start a simple parking ministry. If you see a couple of guys wearing reflective jackets, welcoming you with a smile and directing you to a parking space, don't be alarmed (and don't hit them:). It is just another way we can show the love of Christ to all who come and worship with us on Sunday. Be blessed!

It is with great joy and gratitude to God that I announced this Sunday the addition of a third full-time member to the Harvest Brampton staff team. Jameson Evenden will be joining us as our full-time Worship Ministry Coordinator starting March 30th.
It has been a real privilege to have Jameson his wife Tayla lead us in worship on Sundays as our guests, and I am so excited that they will no longer be our guests.
Jameson has a tremendous musical gift and a humble and sincere heart for the Lord and a passion for His glory. We’re excited to see how God is going to use this rare combination for His purposes in Brampton.
We are very excited to have Jameson and Tayla join our community of faith, as God continues to bless the work that He has called us to. Please be praying for this young couple as they transition into full time ministry here in Brampton.

THIS WEEKEND's NEWS
1. Haiti Relief Update

Galatians 6:10, "So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone , and especially to those who are of the household of faith."
It has been over two weeks since Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, was hit with a massive earthquake that destroyed buildings and devastated families. In response, our church has joined with dozens of other churches in an effort to bring relief and restoration into this destitute country, by partnering with Churches Helping Churches. In doing so, we are able to strategically help the local church in Haiti, which is being greatly used of God in spreading the gospel of Christ in word and deed amidst this tragedy.
If you want to give toward this relief and rebuilding effort, please do so by writing on your cheque memo line or on the front of your offering envelope "Haiti". Thank you.

Your prayers and support are making a
significant difference in the rescue, recovery and restoration efforts
going on among the churches in Port-Au-Prince and their ability to
reach out and bring the hope of the gospel to those who are suffering.
If you want to give toward this relief and rebuilding effort, please indicate on your cheque memo or offering envelope "Haiti". Thank you.
2. Prayer Night Update

We thank the Lord for such a great time of praise and prayer this past Tuesday night. As we spent time adoring His character, confessing our sins, thanking Him for His mighty works and asking Him to continue to do far more abundantly than what we can ask or imagine, He met with us in a powreful way by His Spirit. We are confident in saying alongside the psalmist, "I will call upon you, for you answer me, O God" (Psalm 17:6).

1. Haiti Relief Update

Titus 3:14 says, "And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful."
On Wednesday, Port-Au-Prince was hit with another massive aftershock which shook the remaining buildings in the capital city of Haiti. For the past several days, our fellowship of churches has been praying fervently and working hard to support local churches in Haiti through Churches Helping Churches, a ministry of Acts29. Your prayers and support are making a significant difference in the rescue, recovery and restoration efforts going on among the churches in Port-Au-Prince and their ability to reach out and bring the hope of the gospel to those who are suffering.
Last Sunday, we were amazed by how God led our church to give so generously and sacrificially. Praise His Name! There will be another opportunity this Sunday for people to give towards this initiative. Simply designate on your offering envelope "Haiti".
2. Work for Christ

One of the best ways to express your worship of Christ and grow in your walk with Him is by serving others. To begin doing so, simply fill out this Work for Christ application or pick one up on Sunday at the Get Connected Desk. Submit all completed forms back to the Get Connected Desk.

Titus 3:14, "And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful."
On Tuesday afternoon, the impoverished Haitian capital city of Port-Au-Prince was devastated by a terrible earthquake. Heart-wrenching images have been flooding our TV and computer screens along with reports of governments and organizations committing money and resources to meet the immediate needs of Haiti.

2. Harvest Youth Launch!

Last night, a group of Jr. and Sr. High youth from Harvest Brampton boarded a bus headed to Muskoka for what we pray will be a life-changing weekend. Please pray with us that God would move mightily at this retreat, that lives would be saved and sanctified, and that God would get much glory in this event.
As our youth return, we will be gearing up for our first Harvest Youth gathering! Beginning this Wednesday, from 7:00 - 9:00pm, we will be meeting at John Knox Christian School in the gym. Don't forget your Bible, pen and paper.
3. Update on Christmas Initiatives

This past Christmas season, we had a great opportunity to share the good news of Jesus Christ!
By God's grace, approximately 400 Christmas Kits were given away to family, friends, and neighbours during the month of December. May God continue to water the seeds that were sown through this outreach.
Several families also had the joy of participating in Project Angel Tree, wherein gifts are given to children of families with an incarcerated parent. Sir William Gage Middle School's teaching faculty also partnered with us in this exciting initiative so that we were able to bless five different families throughout Brampton with the love of Christ. Thank you to all who were involved.
We also praise God for a wonderful Christmas Eve service, where many visitors heard the good news of Jesus Christ and their need to come to Him for salvation. May our God and King, Jesus Christ, be forever praised!

1. Harvest Youth - November 28 & 29

At our last church-wide prayer meeting, we prayed for God's leading as to our next steps as a church. In answer to that prayer, God has since raised up both youth and people passionate to serve the youth in our church. So, on Saturday, November 28 from 2pm - 4pm, we are having a bowling event for all youth and parents at Brampton Bowling Lanes (see here for more details).
Then, on Sunday, November 29, after the service there will be a brief Harvest Youth info-session for all youth and parents of youth. Pizza will be provided as we share the vision and direction of Harvest's Youth ministry and attempt to answer as many questions as possible. If you have any questions before then, please email Chris Shipley (cshipley@harvestbrampton.ca). See you there!
2. Forward By Faith

We're excited to have Pastor Ted back this weekend as we continue to track with Abraham as he moves forward by faith, trusting in His Almighty God. Feel free to read ahead and study Genesis 15 as we prepare for God to speak transformingly through His Word this Sunday.
UPCOMING EVENTS
1. Harvest Prayer Night - December 10

We'll be gathering as a church body for prayer on December 10 to thank our Father for all that He has done. We'll be meeting at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel (410 & Steeles) from 7pm - 8:30pm. He has blessed us "far more abundantly" than we could ask or imagine these past several months and we want to return our thanks. Join us for this amazing time of praise and prayer to our King!
2. Peak Performance - December 12

This session is designed to give you a solid understanding of what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ and to help you learn what it means to Worship, Walk with, and Work for Christ here at Harvest Brampton.
Peak Performance is a requirement for anyone interested in becoming a member at Harvest or joining one of its Small Groups.
Childcare is provided for Peak Performance; simply indicate the number of children you will be bringing and their respective ages when you register. To register online, please click here (further directions and details will be provided after you register).
3. Christmas Outreach Opportunities - December

This Christmas season, we have two great opportunities to share the good news of Jesus Christ with our neighbours!
Christmas Kits Distribution
First, we'll be making Christmas Kits that you can give to your neighbours throughout the month of December. It's a great way to meet your neighbours and invite them to Harvest's Christmas Eve service, as well as give them amazing opportunity to find out who Jesus is.
Included in the Christmas Kits are an ESV New Testament, a Jesus Film DVD based on the Gospel of Luke viewable in 16 South Asian languages (including English), a gospel track, and a customized invitation to join us on Christmas Eve at our worship service. Please indicate how many Christmas Kits you would like by signing up online here.
Project Angel Tree
Our second outreach initiative is in conjunction with Prison Fellowship Canada, where we will be reaching out to kids of prison inmates with Christmas gifts. This outreach involves connecting with the child’s caregiver beforehand and then visiting the child prior to Christmas with a toy and a Christmas Kit for the caregiver. What a great way to show God's love and truth! To get involved, please register here online.

1. Welcome Pastor Robbie Symons

This Sunday we are so excited to welcome Pastor Robbie Symons to our pulpit at Harvest Bible Chapel Brampton. Robbie is founding Pastor of Harvest Bible Chapel Oakville and has been and continues to be a major mentor and influence in my life. Robbie and Gillian began a Bible study of 18 people in June 2003 and they have been amazed and give all glory to God for what HE has done since that time in Harvest Oakville. The blessings we are experiencing at Brampton are an overflow of the fruitfulness and faithfulness we have seen in Robbie's ministry.
Robbie's greatest passion is to see Jesus Christ glorified as people realize their potential through God's amazing power! He and his wife Gillian make their home in Burlington, Ontario. They have two sons, Aidan and Cale and baby girl named Sadie.
I'm so stoked! I'm so thankful that the people of Harvest Brampton are going to have the opportunity to hear God's word through this messenger. The only bummer is that I'm not going to be there to hear it! Please make sure Robbie gets the warmest Harvest welcome. Bring your Bibles and get ready for an amazing service!
2. Pastor Ted in Oakville

I'll be preaching at Harvest Oakville this Sunday and reporting back to our parent church about all the great things God is doing in our midst. Please pray for God's blessing in the preaching of His Word and as we celebrate together with Harvest Oakville in all that God has done and continues to do in Brampton!
3. Offering Envelope Request Deadline - November 22

Harvest Bible Chapel Brampton is a gospel-driven, joyfully sacrificial, first-fruits giving church. This means that the church leadership exhorts our people to obediently respond to God's saving grace with their whole lives, including the glad offering of their finances back to God.
A few times a year, we put an order in for those requesting personally designated offering envelopes. If you would like to place an order by the deadline this Sunday, please fill out the request form online by clicking the link below or at the Get Connected Desk on Sunday.

Small Group Launch!
Here's what's coming up!
This Sunday
1. Current Sermon Series - Forward By Faith
2. Young Adults Carpool
3. Party With The Pastor!

Upcoming Events
1. Peak Performance
THIS SUNDAY
1. Current Sermon Series - Forward By Faith

I'm so excited to launch a new sermon series on the life of Abraham
this Sunday. Our church is so new and we don’t know what God is going
to do, but we are expecting Him to do “far more abundantly” (Ephesians
3:20-21). We’ve already seen Him do great things and God is calling us
to have the faith to expect even more! What we need as a church is more
faith.
A man or a woman of faith is a person
who believes God’s promises and trusts His character so deeply that he
or she acts with radical courage, wisdom and strength. A person of
faith is a person who moves forward, trusting in God’s word, and
leaving the details to Him. I love how the author of Hebrews describes
Abraham’s radical trust in God. “By faith Abraham obeyed… he went out,
not knowing where he was going” (Hebrews 11:8).
I really believe that a study of the
life of Abraham is so fitting for our church at this point in time. We
need to keep moving forward as a church, trusting that God will provide
and that God will remain faithful to His promises. When you commit to
moving FORWARD BY FAITH, the most important consideration is not the
destination, the directions or the details. What matters most is who
you are following.
We aren’t going got be studying the
life of Abraham so that we can learn how walk like he did, rather, we
are seeking to know the God who he followed. As we study the life of
Abraham, we will find that we can move FORWARD BY FAITH only because we
are following a faithful God.

vision, history
and priorities while you meet some of the ministry staff and other key
leaders from our church.
This is an informal event held on a Sunday afternoon in the home of one

you may have about Harvest, as well as great fellowship and
light refreshments throughout.

3. Slow Down the Take Down
Our setup and take-down crew before and after the service are amazingly diligent and efficient - a well-oiled machine to say the least! Despite their eagerness to pack up after the service, we are going to begin to have a 15 minute delay in the take-down process after each service so as to maintain an enivornment condusive for those staying after the service requesting prayer. The sound guys can still start to pack things up right away like instruments, cords, etc., but the chairs and curtains will remain up in order to maintain this environment.
4. Thanks for the Football!
The weather was perfect last Sunday for a great game of football. Thanks to all the many people who showed up!

2. Welcome Chris and Lisa Shipley
We are thrilled to have a new staff member at Harvest Brampton! Chris Shipley will be starting full time with us next week as our Director of Discipleship. Chris brings a heart for the Lord, gifts in teaching and leading and a wealth of experience in ministry. The addition of Chris and the creation of a staff team is another indication that God is doing "far more abundantly" in our midst.
Chris will be giving leadership and direction in the areas of Harvest Kids, Small Groups, Assimilation, Evangelism and Congregational care. Chris and his wife Lisa will be moving to Brampton on Monday October 19th with their four children Janae, Heather, Elizabeth, and Jonah. Please pray for Chris and Lisa as they transition there family into a new home, community and ministry.

3. Current Sermon Series - HIGH Definition
This Sunday we'll be contiuing our verse by verse study of 1 Peter 2:1-12 seeking to get a clear picture of the church from God's word. So far we've looked at the Church as a Nursery filled with babies longing for God's word, and as a Temple made up of living stones. This week we'll be studying 1 Peter 2:4-8 and looking at the church as a Nation made up of God's chosen people.

We had a great time last night worshipping and praying together. We thanked God for all His amazing provision for us. We thanked Him for His Son, we thanked Him for all the love and support from Harvest Oakville, and we thanked Him for providing such a great school facility for us. We also committed our church and our individual lives to the to the Lord, to be used by Him for His purposes. Many of us will be stepping way out of our comfort zone in helping plant our church. A lot of us may be asking God "please send someone else" (Exodus 4:13) like Moses did, but we're all trusting God to do FAR MORE ABUNDANTLY in, through and around us for His glory.
1. NEXT STEPS: Preparing for Our First Service

As many of you know, God has granted us Sir William Gage Middle School as a worship facility. The brand new school is located at 625 Queen Street West (between McLaughlin and Chinguacousy). We will have our first public service at Gage School on September 27th at 9:00 am which is so exciting! There is a lot to be done to get ready for this exciting day. Here are the details:
Sunday September 13th 9:00 am
Core Group Service at Gage School (set up starts at 7:00 am)
Open to: Core Group Members
This will be a special Sunday as it will be our first time meeting in our rental facility. During this service we’ll continue to seek the Lord in prayer and also engage in some further ministry training. We’ll also be taking up our first offering as a church. Children will remain with their parents.
September 20th 9:00 am
Pre-Launch Practice Service at Gage School (set up starts at 7:00 am)
Open to: Core Group Members
This will be a practice service where all the A/V equipment is set up and utilized and the children’s ministry is operational. The whole morning will run like a shorter Harvest Worship Service (Worship, Announcements, Offering, Preaching etc). Our aim in this Sunday gathering is to glorify God and work out any potential glitches on the technical and logistical end of things.
September 27th 9:00 am
Our First Service at Gage School (set up starts at 7:00 am)
Open to: Everyone!
This is going to be an amazing day! The first public worship service for Harvest Bible Chapel Brampton. Start praying about who you could invite to share in this exciting moment in the life of our church!
2. PREPARING TO SERVE: 6 Week Schedule
We're calling on everyone who is committed to making Harvest Brampton their home to commit to a six week serving schedule that will help us all get involved, and avoid burnout.
The schedule involves:
2 weeks serving on our welcome ministry
2 weeks serving in our children’s ministry
2 weeks of worshipping at Harvest with no formal responsibilities.
Please prayerfully consider committing to this schedule and get involved on the ground floor of what God is doing in Brampton!
3. WORK FOR CHRIST Application Form
We understand that serving in our Children's or Welcome Ministry may be a big stretch for many of us, so we want to make sure that you're able to serve in these ministries in areas of your strength. Completing the Work for Christ Application form will help us place you in a role that suits your strengths and will also help us ensure the safety of our children through a police background check.

4. PRAY LIKE CRAZY
Church planting is spiritual work. Unless God is building this thing all our effort is a waste of time (Psalm 127:1). Let's remember to be vigilant in prayer over the next few weeks as we embark on this new journey together. Use the 8 Ways to Pray for Harvest Brampton page on our website as a guide.
Thanks for your prayers and for your faithfulness. Lyncey and I are so thankful for each one of you. Have a great Labour Day Weekend and we'll see you on Sunday September 13th!
In Him,

Ted Duncan

Meeting with the Principal

A QUICK REPORT ON TED'S MEETING WITH THE PRINCIPAL
Thanks so much for your prayers for my meeting withte principal. For those of you who have been watching the Brampton Blog, you know that the meeting was postponed from Monday to Thursday.
I went into the meeting with a proposal of what I thought would be ideal for our church, totally unsure about how he would react. The next thing I know, I was walking around the school, getting a personal tour from the principal of 4 amazing classrooms that were absolutely perfect for our growing church. Some of the rooms weren't even on my radar and they're far better than the rooms I was planning on asking for.
He said that 2 of the rooms he can confirm right away (which is our bare minimum to go forward) and then the other 2 need approval by the teachers who use those rooms. The two teachers though are both Christians! He intentionally took me to classrooms that have Christian teachers because he thinks they’d be open to letting us use them. God is so great. Praise the Lord! Why should I be surprised when God chooses to do far more abundantly than I could ask of think (Ephesians 3:20-21)?

Tuesday July 28th Core Group Meeting

In Psalm 78:72 David is characterized as having an “upright heart” and a “skillful hand”. This description forms the foundation for what we are trying to accomplish in our Core Group meetings.
As we prepare for the task of church planting, we want to make sure that our hearts are “upright”. Upright, describes a person who is full of integrity and totally devoted to God, being free from selfish ambition or pride. The cry of the upright heart says “Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name give glory” (Psalm 115:1). At our Core Group meetings we spend time in worship and prayer and hearing God’s word because we want to make sure that our hearts are in the right place each step of the way.
We also want to take time to make sure that our hands are “skillful” by preparing ourselves to minister to people. We’re going to need “all hands on deck” as we step out by faith to get this church started, but we need those hands to know what they’re doing. We engage in practical ministry training at our Core Group Meetings so that all of us can cross-train for service in a number of ministry areas.
I hope to see you at our next Core Group Meeting July 28th.
Click here to learn more about joining our Core Group.
Please Pray for a Place
In Isaiah 66:1 God emphatically declares, "Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest?” We’re not looking to build God a house, but we are diligently seeking a place where we can gather in His name to worship Him and hear His word. Please continue to pray that God, in His sovereignty and in His timing, would provide us in with a place for our church plant.
In Him,
