Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and shall call his name Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14)

    Merry Christmas Harvest Family,

We're so excited for our CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES this Saturday night at 5:00pm and 7:00pm at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel. It's going to be great to celebrate our Saviour's birth together.

I want to remind you that these Saturday night services will be our last time together in 2011, since we won't be having a service on Sunday December 25th. That means this Saturday evening will be our last opportunity to bring our CHRISTMAS OFFERING in support of Harvest Bible Fellowship initiatives in Liberia and Oakville. Please pray and ask the Lord how He  would lead you to  give generously to these exciting opportunities.

    In God's love,

    Ted
WedWednesdayDecDecember14th2011 Seeking His Face this Christmas - Prayer Night

Merry Christmas from the Duncan family to yours.

You are loved! We are so thankful to the Lord for the people He is bringing to our church and for the unity and maturity we are seeing in His Body.

Here are a few key events that are happening in our church leading up to Christmas. Please make our prayer night this Thursday a priority. I really believe God has brought us to a crucial stage as church  and we are in need of coming together to seek His face (Psalm 27:8) for His direction, His power and His presence as we move forward.

Prayer Night Thursday December 15th 7:00 pm at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel

Christmas events for Junior High and Highschool Friday December 16th

Christmas Eve Services Saturday December 24th 5:00 and 7:00 pm at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel.

    See you Thursday night!

    WedWednesdayOctOctober5th2011 Happy Thanksgiving!

“So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth”
    (1 Corinthians 3:7)

We have much to be thankful for as we head into the Thanksgiving holiday this weekend. I was so encouraged to receive a message after our service this past Sunday that the Niagara church plant had over 250 people at their launch service. Thank God for answering prayer! What a privilege to have a front row seat as God is doing a new thing in our midst through Harvest Bible Chapel!

As we are SEEKING HIS FACE this year as a church, it seems that more and more people are joining us in the pursuit. Our church is growing and more new people are coming every Sunday. Here a few things I’d like to communicate to you as we continue to be amazed at what God is doing.

     1. GIVE GOD ALL THE GLORY As exciting as it is to see God working and growing our church it is also dangerous. We must continually guard ourselves against pride and against distraction. Our heart needs to express “not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name give glory” (Psalm 115:1). It’s “only God who gives the growth” (1 Corinthians 3:7) and it’s only God who gets the glory! As we head into Thanksgiving this weekend, we should be giving God so much thanks and praise for all that He’s done in and through us!

    2. MAKE IT YOUR GOAL TO MEET AT LEAST ONE NEW PERSON EVERY WEEK - Since we've only been in existence for two years, all of us can remember what it was like when we came to a Harvest Bible Chapel service for the first time. "Where will I drop off my children? What will church in a school be like?  Will anyone talk to me?" These are the kinds of questions people are always asking themselves when they arrive at a new church. We want our visitors to be able to answer those questions as quickly as possible so that they can focus on Seeking God's face in worship and in the Word. I want us to make it our aim that we reach out and welcome these people as Christ has welcomed us (Romans 15:7). Most people that I talk to can remember the first person they met at Harvest Bible Chapel. The sad thing is, it's normally the same 2 or 3 names that people keep mentioning. Don't leave it up to the greeters and ushers to greet people, reach out connect with people yourself!

    3. PARK FAR AWAY AND SIT UP CLOSE On a more practical note, anyone who has arrived at Gage School anytime close to 10:30 knows that it's next to impossible to find a parking spot in the lot. This is a great problem to have because it means that more and more people are coming out to seek God's face on Sunday mornings. One of the ways we can practically love people in our church who are new, who have small children, or who have physical challenges is to park over at the Queen St. Public School parking lot and walk. Parking is available on both the near and far sides of Queen St. Public School. We’re also asking that you take the opposite approach to parking your car, when it comes to parking yourself on a seat in the gym. We're asking people to sit as close to the front as possible to make room for newcomers and latecomers.

    4. USE PRE-AUTHORIZED PAYMENT FOR YOUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS. As Spirit-led, sacrificial generosity spreads among the people of our church, it is becoming a challenge for our tellering team to count and process donor information in a limited time frame. One way all of us who call Harvest home could help with this process is to sign up for Pre-Authorized Payment donations using this form. It's safe, simple and smart.

Here are a few upcoming events that you should consider attending. There's something for everyone.

Work for Christ Training Day October 15th

Christianity Explored Starting Sunday October 16th

    Prayer Meeting Thursday October 20th

Youth Bible Studies (Gr. 9-12 Wed & Gr. 6-8 Thurs)

    Have a great holiday weekend!

    In God's love,

    Ted

FriFridayJulJuly22nd2011 Special Bulletin: Stay Cool This Sunday!
    Hey Harvest!

We are thankful for your commitment to worship the Lord Jesus with us here at Harvest during these warm summer months. You may have noticed that the school’s gym has no air conditioning, so we are trying to help you stay cool by adding more fans during the service beginning this weekend, and by providing cold water before and after the service at the refreshment tables in the halls.  We hope this will help you stay cool as we hear God’s Word and worship together the King of creation, Jesus Christ.

And don't forget to check out these links for more information on our upcoming events in the summer months:

    Hey loved ones,

We’re so thankful for the way God encouraged His body through the powerful testimonies shared by our baptism candidates. Let’s continue to pray for Ed Durica, Nathan DeBoer, Ken Taylor, Emeline Van Bodegom, Taisha Palmer-Salmon, and Robert Mikhael.

I’m really excited to dig deep into one of my favorite passages over the next few weeks as we study Philippians 2 and the topic of humility. Humility is a daunting topic to discuss. As soon as you think you’re humble, you become guilty of pride. Who then, could say, “Listen to me because I know something about humility”. Can anyone speak with authority on the subject? No one can. So what do we do? We follow Jesus.  Listen to what C.J. Mahaney wrote in the introduction to His book entitled Humility: True Greatness,

“I’m a proud man pursuing humility by the grace of God. I don’t write as an authority on humility; I write as a fellow pilgrim with you on the path set for us by our humble Saviour”.

The path set for us by Jesus is mapped out in Philippians chapter 2.  I invite you to spend some time there this week and we’ll continue our journey together on Sunday morning.

There's a lot going on in our church as we head into the month of June.

Make sure you have these dates in your calendar:

PEAK PERFORMANCE This Saturday June 4th!

BBQ This Sunday June 5th.  Bring your lawn chairs!

Sunrise Prayer Meeting Wednesday June 15th 6:15 am

The latest from our Blog: “John Stott: The Cross”

Have a great week in the Lord!

    You are loved,
