Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

    Psalm 96:3

Voices from Harvest St. Louis-West did just that this summer by joining with those from eight other churches to form the St. Louis Gospel Choir and Orchestra.

Concert halls, churches, cathedrals, and street corners across Germany and the Czech Republic were filled with praise as this diverse group toured from June 2-14—even appearing on national Czech TV.

Connecting through a variety of musical styles, cultural barriers were crossed and the message of hope shone through. Especially appealing to the Czech people were Afro-American spirituals and their illustrations of hope to those who formerly lived under godless communism.

Best of all: a clear presentation of the gospel given by Senior Pastor Michael Šust and testimonies by Harvest members opened opportunities for deeper questions, and resulted in some confessing Christ as their Lord and Savior! Among them, one woman who heard the Gospel Choir's concert in 2007 and “couldn’t get the message out of her mind"—a testimony to what Christ can do through seeds sown in faith.

Back in the States, the Gospel Choir and Orchestra presented a concert in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Their audience: 140 young men enrolled in Teen Challenge, an addiction rehab facility there. Being so close to home, many Harvest St. Louis members were also in attendance and blessed by this local opportunity to share God's grace with those in need.

We praise the Lord and give Him glory for these who are freely offering their time and talents to the eternal benefit of others, around the globe.

"For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth..."

    Isaiah 55:10-11

Harvest Glasgow has been in existence for a little over 365 days, yet the gospel is already transforming lives for eternity and bringing forth new life in this urban center—a city whose name actually means “green place”.

Harvest Bible Fellowship's Kirk VanMaanen said the fledgling work is flourishing
under the leadership of Senior Pastor Scott Hamilton since its August 15, 2009 launch.

“One and a half years ago when Pastor Scott and his family arrived at Harvest Bible Fellowship to embark on this journey, we had no idea where it would lead us together in the gospel. But, by God’s amazing grace, He has glorified His Son. Harvest Glasgow has seen lost people saved, broken-hearted people restored, comfortable people challenged, faithful people encouraged, and a church on-mission.”

This video illustrates the power of the gospel this past year in the lives of Glasgow worshipers Michael, Julie, Gary, and Emma. Each comes from a different faith background, but all share in the saving work of Christ.

Michael has drawn closer to God through biblical teaching at Harvest. “I've been grieving my sin, understanding the magnitude of my sin.” He sums this phenomenal truth God is impressing on his life:

“Jesus plus nothing is still everything.”

We rejoice in these life transformations from Harvest Glasgow—and are humbled by this evidence of God's promise to fulfill His plans through His Word.

"...It shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it."
    Isaiah 55:11

Through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. This was
according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord
    ...
    Ephesians 3:10-11

    As we move
into a high-energy season at the Fellowship, it is evident the Lord is near.
We seek His favor upon us in the building of His church according to His eternal purposes.

    • 17 new Harvest Bible Chapels will launch into ministry from September to December. 13 in North America; 4 internationally.
    • 10 new Senior Pastors in training at the Harvest Training Center for an intense season of equipping for the next wave of church planting.
    • 7 potential core groups are in development for future locations. 3 in North America; 4 internationally.
    • 46 existing Harvest Bible Chapels are being strengthened, resourced and trained at levels specific to their stages of ministry.
We praise God in what these
churches, leaders, locations, and core groups represent: the Lord of the harvest sending out workers into His harvest to change lives for eternity. Praying, planting, reaping and repeating!

Connecting people with these new, life-giving churches is vital to that process.
Here are three ways you can help:

    Last and most significantly, pray.
Every Harvest Bible Chapel upholds the same Four Pillars and the same Harvest distinctives, yet each is unique to the field in which it is planted. Seek
the Lord with us on behalf of these new works and their pastors...

    We covet your prayers for:
    • Presence: God to be present in the work of each Harvest Bible Chapel
    • Power: God’s Word to change lives and bring many to saving faith in Jesus Christ
    • Partners: Senior Pastor and his family; workers needed for the fields
    • People: The community and those who the Lord would draw to Himself through each church.
    • Place: Provision and protection over locations for worship services, church offices
Together our Fellowship holds great promise to bear much fruit for the kingdom!
We are grateful for your involvement in this mission and movement, and your partnership in prayer.

    Passionately building His church,

Love Links: one Harvest's answer to a child’s birthday wish, a need for transportation, a restoration of what was taken...all for God's glory.

Tapping into some distinct local needs, Harvest West Olive in Michigan has rolled up their sleeves for a spiritually significant means of filling them. Their unique Compassion Ministry “Love Links” provides bicycles to members of the community who cannot afford them on their own.

Parents who want to give their child a bike but simply do not have the funds, workers who need to get to their jobs but have either no license or car, families whose bikes are stolen and cannot afford to replace them—all are experiencing the blessings of this outreach.

Pastored by Ken Gentzler, Harvest West Olive has partnered with Love INC (Love In the Name of Christ), to offer this ministry. This local organization partners in the work of Christ by connecting with area churches to house its various programs. When asked three years ago to join forces, Harvest West Olive was happy to take on the challenge of meeting this community need. The garage on the church property then became home to the Love Links ministry.

Now, each week, a group of seven volunteers gather for Wrenching Night, during which repairs are made to donated bicycles. Donations of all kinds—child and adult, new and used, good condition and poor—are received every week, as well as donated funds for parts. Wrenchers then ready some 10-15 bikes each week in preparation for bi-weekly "Giveaways," where anyone with a voucher from Love INC heads to the garage for a retooled bike at no cost.

Last year, Love Links gave away over 200 bicycles. In 2010, 125 have already gone to those in need—42 at the first Giveaway alone.

God's blessing and favor are evident upon this ministry, as donations continue to arrive at the garage and volunteers continue to pour in their time and talents. In fact, supplies have never run out. During one high-need season, the Lord's provision was a shipment of 50 bicycles from the local sheriff’s office that helped meet the need quota.

More significantly, fulfilling what seems to be such a simple need prepares the way for spiritual opportunities, as interactions with Love Links servants offer genuine glimpses of the Savior's love. An early arrival reached a Giveaway after starting his trek on foot at 2 p.m. the day before—from a town 25 miles away. “It is such a joy to see kids smile when they get on their bike and pedal away,” notes one of the ministry's leaders.

Just as Jesus connected with people of all ages and backgrounds through practical means such as fish and bread, He is at work today meeting needs through His people and ministries like Love Links.

It is our privilege to share this powerful display of God's grace in the lives of His people.

More than a presentation of various ministries or an organization, the video below is a statement of the fact that Harvest Metanoia Arad is passionately building His Church!

Metanoia Arad is a community of believers who fully experience God and want to live in a dynamic and genuine way to lift high the name of Jesus...

On a continent where hundreds of churches are closing each year due to the lack of believers, this church is growing by an average of 100 members annually. Every weekend 600 adults and 140 children worship at Metanoia Arad (with approximately 500 meeting in over 50 small groups). Three services every weekend are not enough to keep from overfilling their auditorium seating; lack of space has been a primary issue for the past few years.

Enter prayer and fasting... Metanoia believers were rotating through a fast every day for three years and seeking the Lord fervently because there were no visible options; nothing existed in Arad to meet their worship needs. Then in the fall of 2009, after looking at more than thirty properties, the Lord provided a 2-acre piece of land adjacent to Arad's most traveled road and railway. By the spring of 2010, the church raised enough money to purchase the property.

The plan now is to build. Leaders and the Metanioa congregation are trusting God once again to provide as only He can to raise up a new home for the believers in Arad. Step one is to sell their current building, which will enable them to build a gymnasium on the property for a place to gather for services until the Lord provides the funds needed to build a worship center.

    What can you do?

    1. Pray. This is our most important request! Pray with us that God will bless His people and for this work to be established by His hand, so that our only boast is in the Lord Jesus.
    2. Share this with other believers and your network of friends/family to enlist their prayers. Freely forward your newsletter or click the "share" or "email" icons at the top of the news article.
    3. Help through a matching fund. Our goal is to support this work financially and our hope is to tell the church in Arad we will match their giving dollar-for-dollar, up to $100,000. While the weight of this capital campaign needs to be carried by the church in Arad, we would like to match their faithfulness if God enables us to do so. (Harvest Bible Fellowship has established an account for this matching gift where tax deductible contributions can be made. Contact krv@harvestbiblefellowship.org if the Lord leads you in this direction.)
    4. Keep praying! God has already used Metanoia Arad to plant five daughter churches, and we are trusting He will further His Kingdom through this church throughout Romania and Europe. Pray that the testimony of the Lord Jesus and the Word of God will continue to be proclaimed in this country and all of Europe with boldness.

What happens when three Romanian Harvest pastors assemble to receive a pastor from stateside? Harvest Hickory meets Romania—and Harvests Braila, Brasov and Ploiesti welcome Kurt Gebhards.

On a mission to renew his own global vision of God's work, the Senior Pastor of Harvest Hickory had “a wonderful time of fellowship" with his Romanian brothers in ministry.

Traveling to Bucharest, Romania, Kurt spent an afternoon with fellow Senior Pastors Marius Mezin (Metanoia Braila), Adi Stanciu (Metanoia Brasov), and Cristi Pana (Metanoia Ploiesti).
Kurt initiated the visit, desiring to learn more about these Harvest Metanoia churches and thus more about how to support them...

What he found left an indelible impression: three "very impassioned and equipped" men who are faithfully shepherding relatively small congregations through formidable obstacles with few resources—and marked by selflessness and wisdom. (As almost a case in point, two men made three-hour journeys just to meet for the afternoon.)

The face-to-face connecting quickly transcended differences in background, country, and continent. In-depth sharing of ministry concerns cultivated their hearts to continue upholding one another, across the ocean, through prayer.

Recounting his visit, Kurt could not emphasize enough the blessing these men were to him: “I was impressed with the absolute dedication. Second Corinthians 12:15 is so reflected in these men.”

I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls
    .

Returning to their respective locales, each now has a better understanding of how different their regions, needs and resources are—and of their shared devotion to building up Christ's kingdom. Their common goal is to seek ways to leverage this unique encounter toward stronger relationships between Harvest's North American and international pastors...

One afternoon ignited a renewed mission, vision, and passion in four Senior Pastors—an overseas investment that's bearing eternal dividends.

Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11

God is visibly at work establishing His kingdom in Kansas City, Missouri! With their sights set on launching this fall, Harvest Kansas City Senior Pastor, Jeff Terrell, shares this amazing story:

"Now [the Bereans] were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so." Acts 17:11

I can remember reading these words for the first time as a young believer.  From the day of my conversion, I had a passion planted in me to study the Word of God.  As I discovered pastors such as John MacArthur and John Piper, I learned that the Bible has the answers for all areas of life!  So, my heart resonated to read in the 17th chapter of Acts that the people of Berea searched the Scriptures—even to see if Paul himself was preaching truth.  These Bereans quickly became one of my favorite people-groups in the Bible.

    Introduction to Berean Bible Church
On March 25, my family found our way into the Berean Christian School offices desiring a tour of the facility and hoping to enroll our daughters, Meg and Mallory, for the fall.  I was familiar with the ministry.  For over 40 years (30 for the school), it had been firmly planted in the Olathe, Kansas area as a place committed to the Word and excellence in Christian education.  Even when I played against them in high school, there was a special place in my heart for the ministry named after the Acts 17 Bereans.  (Of course, that didn't mean that I would let up when playing against them!)

As we toured the beautiful and relatively new facility—built in 2004—the school secretary told us of God's great provision for the ministry which led to their being able to build such a beautiful campus.  As we continued to talk, we found out the church was looking for a pastor.  The secretary became intrigued as we talked about Harvest Bible Chapel.

For I Am Doing a Work...That You Would Not Believe if Told
Okay, so the paragraph heading is from Habakkuk 1:5 and was speaking of the impending destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonians, but for us, this work I am about to tell of falls into the "you would not believe if told" category.  The weeks which followed were filled with much praying, fasting, and dialogue with the leaders of Berean and Harvest Bible Fellowship.

As we began to learn more about each other, we realized that our ministries are committed to the same core principals—the supremacy of the Word of God in all things, believing firmly in the power of prayer, sharing the good news of Jesus boldly...

So, we began to discuss the possibility of the people of Berean joining the people of Harvest to become Harvest Bible Chapel of Kansas City!  Harvest was in need of like-minded people and a facility.  Berean was in need of like-minded people and a pastor.  God had this plan in motion long before March 25!

On Sunday, May 30, the voting members of Berean Bible Chapel unanimously affirmed the direction of their elders.  We now put our hands to the plow and spend the summer planning for a September launch!

    A Vision for the Future
We plan on launching Harvest Bible Chapel of Kansas City on the corner of 159th Street and Lackman Road in Olathe, Kansas in September of this year.  What is wonderful is that—although the name will change—the great heritage displayed by the ancient Bereans and continued by the people of Berean Bible Church of "examining the Scriptures daily" will continue to be the fountain from which all areas of our ministry will flow.

The surrounding community is filled with mature and young families.  We look forward to impacting them with the Gospel and discipling those God brings us...so that we may present everyone complete in Christ,
    Colossians 1:28.

    Please Pray
The corner of 159th and Lackman is seeing a lot of change this year.  In August, Berean Christian School and Westminster Christian Academy will merge to become
Heritage Christian Academy.  This location will promise to be a hub for the community for years to come.  We look forward to ministering to the people of the community, building a healthy God-honoring church, and partnering with an school committed to spiritual and academic excellence.  Please pray for the school, the church, and especially the people.  Change can be difficult.  However, when God calls us to take a step of faith, He always provides!

    —Jeff Terrell

Ever wonder what takes place behind the scenes in many Harvest Bible Chapels on any given Sunday? Or just how much muscle goes into weekend ministry?

More than you may realize...of our 50 Harvest locations, over two-thirds are still "portable," meaning their space is only available for a few hours on Sunday. Every element and every item involved in each aspect of ministry is hauled, unloaded, set up, and packed away again each week—and repeated 52 weeks each year.

Here Harvest London captures the process in a way you may have never seen, along with the motivation that gives meaning to all of our labor: bringing glory to our worthy God!

How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things! Romans 10:15

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the good news that makes all things beautiful—and we are delighted to spread the word as He furthers His kingdom. July 16 marks the movement of Harvest Bible Chapel to the Australian continent, with believers coming together as a prospective launch team at the first Open House in Perth.

Harvest Bible Fellowship has connected with
Frans Alberts to shepherd, lead, and develop this group into a strong core that embraces the Four Pillars and ministry model of Harvest, and grows into a team that is eager to lean into the labor of planting a new church.

A native of South Africa, Frans pursued a successful career in the UK prior to being called into full-time ministry, and completed dual master's degrees from The Master's Seminary in California.

When our contact in Perth shared that a significant South African population resides there and felt that Frans would be a great fit, the Fellowship began communicating with him about leading this church plant. Together with his wife Christa and their two children, he is laying hold of the opportunity to develop this team and, Lord willing, to lead behind a Harvest pulpit in Perth.

After transiting between Perth and California this summer, Frans will take part in a 3-month residency at the Harvest Training Center to complete his preparation for pastoral ministry.

While we continue to plan the way, we appeal to the Lord to establish our steps...and your strategic prayers are highly valued as well.

Join us in lifting this exciting endeavor and new work. Pray for:

    • Safe travel for Frans, Christa, Joshua and Hannah as they arrive in Perth for the first time.
    • The Alberts to have a sense of ‘being home’ as they meet people and share the vision of Harvest Bible Chapel.
    • Many to come to the Open House to hear the story of Harvest and vision of this new church plant.
    • The Spirit of God to minister to those who listen and motivate those He would choose to commit to this life-giving work.
    • Effective, mutual ministry and momentum as the Alberts return to Perth again in August for a second round of open houses and launch team meetings.
As we press on together to bring the good news, God's promise is unfolding...to build His Church!
