The King Is Preserved
Passage: Matthew 2:13–23
Principle: God sovereignly protected Jesus from harm.
Praise: “What Child Is This?”
Prompt: Ask your child these questions:
• How did God keep Jesus safe from Herod and other wicked men?
• In what ways were Mary and Joseph obedient, and why was their obedience important?
Practice: Help your child apply these truths in the following ways:
• By trusting God and relying on His protection and guidance every day.
• By obeying God’s Word and other authorities without delay or debate.
This Week: As a family, read Matthew 2:13–23.

The King Is Adored
Passage: Matthew 2:1–12
Principle: The wise men are an example of how to adore the King of kings.
Praise: “Joy to the World”
Prompt: Ask your child these questions:
• Who were the magi, and why did they come to see Jesus?
• Why was it important that Jesus was born in Bethlehem?
Practice: Help your child apply these truths in the following ways:
• By thanking God that His Son came to earth in such a humble way to save undeserving sinners.
• By worshiping Christ with “exceeding joy,” as the magi did.
This Week: As a family, read Matthew 2:1–12.

The King Is Born
Passage: Matthew 1:1–25
Principle: God’s amazing grace is seen in His sending Christ to Earth.
Praise: “Hark! the Herald Angels Sing”
Prompt: Ask your child these questions:
• What does Jesus’ name mean, and why is it important?
• Why did God come to earth as a man? Practice: Help your child apply these truths in the following ways:
• By believing what God’s Word says, no matter what people say.
• By thanking God for sending His Son to live the perfect life and die for sinful men.
This Week: As a family, read Matthew 1:1–25.
Next Week: Matthew 2:1–12
